Our Privacy Policy Regarding Children
McDonald’s is very conscious of privacy issues. We are proud of our longtime commitment to our customers. We are especially careful in any communications with one of our most treasured customers – children.
Website
On our website, we may offer many features, such as games and coloring books, which do not require children to provide any personal information. We collect only limited personal information from children of age 12 or under (such as their email addresses) to respond to their online requests. For example, we may collect a child’s email address in order to send the child a screen saver, but we will promptly delete the email address from our system thereafter. Or, we may collect a child’s email address in order to enter the child in sweepstakes. We may also ask a child to provide an email address of his/her parent so we can notify the parent or seek consent. We will not collect more detailed information from any child of age 12 or younger, such as postal address or telephone number, without the consent of his/her parent or guardian. McDonald’s will not condition a child’s participation in any online activity on the child’s disclosure of more personal information than is reasonably necessary to participate in that activity.
Mobile Application
Under normal circumstances, we do not actively collect personal data of underage persons. However, as birthday is not compulsory information and we would normally not request age proof from customers, we cannot verify customers’ age. If you are under-age, please obtain the approval from your guardian before using any internal platforms and services of McDonald’s. If your guardian does not agree your using of McDonald’s services under this policy or provision of personal data with McDonald’s, please stop proceeding further. If you have registered and set up an account on McDonald’s mobile application, please stop using McDonald’s service and inform us through the contact details at the end of this policy, to enable us to take any appropriate actions. If you are a guardian, please fulfil your duty properly and protect the personal data of under-age persons. If an under-age person would like to register or use our service/products, please provide he or she with proper guidance and supervision. If there is proof that any under-age persons have registered and use our product or service without the approval of his or her guardian, the relevant guardian please inform us as soon as possible for discussion of the next step.
Personal information collected from children is used solely by McDonald’s or other entities that provide McDonald’s with technical, fulfillment or other services to McDonald’s. For example, such entities may provide services, such as, improving our web sites, fulfilling requests or administering sweepstakes.
